It’s official. I am THE worst blogger in the history of bloggers. It’s just official.

But enough about that. I’m going to tell you what has kept me from blogging lately… Ever heard of NanoWrimo?? Well, you should google it. Hehe. I’m just kidding. NanoWrimo stands for NAtional NOvelist’s WRIting MOnth. Got it? Good. The purpose of NANOWRIMO is this:

You sign up on this website where you commit to attempting to write 50,000 words in one month. ONE month. What month? November. I know right? There’s that month that’s full of Thanksgiving prep and all that jazz… And in the midst of that, they want you to try to write 50, STINKIN’000 words. And no, that is NOT a typo, you do have to try to write fifty thousand. Guess what? I did it. You heard right. I wrote fifty thousand words in 17 days actually. This was my first year trying it out ( I did the jr. version last year, the one where you can SET your word goal) and I did it. In 17 days… WOW.

I had to write approximately.. uhm… 3,000 words a day? I did that because I was going to be gone for a week in the end of November celebrating Thanksgiving with my cousins and family. But I did it! And I even had a few days to rest before going off on vacation. What did I write exactly? Ah… WELL… I wrote an original story about a kid named Eugene Catzapelli. Says a lot, doesn’t it? I entitled it:

The Diary of an Average Superhero…

Yurp. That’s it! I haven’t written the ending yet, but I like where it’s heading. It took some really unexpected turns… Any ways. I’ll tell more about that laters. In the mean time, enjoy your Christmas!!! Bye!

What is the Point?

I ask you! What is the point of having a blog when you never use it? It’s like…. like….. um… Something! But whatever it is it’s not good. And as my readers know (wait, do I even HAVE any readers? Oh well. A girl can dream, can’t she? ) I myself, am NOT a faithful blogger. And this is evidenced by the fact that my LAST post was in January…. EARLY January. And in between now and then there have been many, MANY noteworthy, or should I say, Blog worthy events. But alas, I have simply not found the time or inspiration to chronicle these.

Well, I have been able to scrounge up some time as of late, and I am hoping to dazzle my viewers with a cornucopia of events from these past six months! So that’s something more you can look forward to this, erm, month.

RESOLUTION

Okay, yeah! It’s new years… again… Well, technically, I’m late since it’s actually the second but who cares? I don’t really.

So I hear that most every one starting on the first has a resolution for this year.

But now to the point, I guess you are probably wondering what MY new years resolution is. I think it is appropriate to say that I have goals, not really a resolution. I have ten goals. Fitting, don’t you think? Well, it goes something like this! Music maestro!

1. I want to get better at drawing

2. I want to for once in my life finish a book I’ve written

3. I want to read at least 50 new books (large ones.. interesting ones) and buy the ones I like (I’ll need to complete number 4 first for that one…)

4. Find a reasonable way to earn some money…. and then tithe and save some of it.

5. Learn how to cook better! Thanks to a wonderful mother who doesn’t mind me in the kitchen (but cooks wonderfully! She is a great cook!) I can make that one work out in a jiffy!

6. Read the bible. I really want to read it on a regular basis.

7. Learn to play the piano even better and practice guitar more.

8. Clean out my closet! I’m sure there is a way to do it…I just haven’t figured it out yet…..

9. Teach my little sister the importance of cleaning up after herself….. That’s gonna be fun……. =P

10. And finally, I just want to be a better person in general…. I want to be okay with not having a schedule or a plan for the day (I know, I know. I’m 12 and I must have a schedule for the day….. *virtual slap* get a life girl!) and I would love to be more willing to be helpful around the house.

So there it is. My list of “resolutions”. My original resolution was to not have a resolution but I busted that one the second I thought of it…… I hope you are able to achieve all your hopes for this year!

Before I start, I’m just going to go ahead and say No this is NOT about varieties of cheddar or swiss or even the level of something’s “corniness” (if you know what I mean by that term…). No, this is about the dreaded PHOTO SHOOT!

Yes, I’ll agree, at certain times in certain places, photo shoots are fun. But when you’re standing in an uncomfortable outfit with the sun in your eyes not being able to blink…. it can get frustrating. And if you don’t do it right, you end up looking pained in the picture. You look grumpy.. unfurled… or whatever not nice word you can think to use for it. And then what if the picture just happens to be the one that ends up on all the Christmas cards that are sent out to everyone, or the photo that is chosen to put on a mug you give to your Grandpa? Not… cool. Seriously. Can you tell I’ve had experience with this sort of thing? My mother loves photography as does my Grandpa. So I am skilled in the various poses, smiles, and looks which will make a decent picture. Well let’s just say, that be it in hot (or cold) weather, the sun has a tendency to thwart all chances of a pretty picture. And your smile comes out looking forced or cheesy. Yeah that’s one. Have you ever been told:

“No, use a real smile. You know, real? Like they used to use in the olden days?”

Yeah, needless to say, it’s hard to strike a balance. Fortunately, both my photographing (right word… or not…hmmm . Maybe I need a dictionary for Christmas……) relatives are not pushy about a perfect photo. But hey! It’s fun to elaborate, right?

Never Too Old

So I’ve heard that when you get to a certain age, you are too old for certain things. Things like:

Pooh Bear Toys

Barbie Dolls

Neverland (I know, Ironic, right?)

Fashion Pollys (Yes I REFUSE to call them polly pockets! The sound of the name just sends shivers up my spine! How could they? I mean, I remember the days when they still had their original names. I remember Polly, and Lila, and Shawnee, and Rick, and Todd, and whatever that red head was called! No. They will always be FASHION POLLY’S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Excuse the outburst there…

Dollar Tree Toys that break as soon as you get in the car (WHAT? Say it isn’t so!)

Happy Meals (I’m dying. I’m seriously dying…=P)

And most crazy of all, SANTA CLAUS!!!!!!!

Now that I have listed the most insane and estupido things that some people become to old for, let me give my opinions on them. First, let me begin by saying that my parents have never supported any of these rules. We have always been told, YOU’RE NEVER TOO OLD! Hey, that rhymed. =D Well, we still don’t eat McDonald’s hardly ever but that’s okay because the food at home is incredible! And we don’t play with Barbies ALL the time but that makes it all the more fun when we do. We’ll have the usual fight about who’s Barbie is who’s and when we traded them around and what we traded it for and if you’re really smart (or have a really good puppy dog face) you can do a whole ‘nother trade! Deep breaths after that long sentence! lol. I will never be too old for those dollar tree cell phones that never run out of annoying noises to make. We still have a HUGE collection of pooh bear toys AND I am still a faithful buyer of polly’s (FASHION pollys.. don’t forget). I have counted over 50 of my own pollys (not counting the cheap knock offs you get at Disney stores). And I will ALWAYS believe in Santa Claus no matter HOW fictional he is. He will always be as real as Rudolph and Frosty and Buddy the Elf.

So to wrap it up, here is what I say to everyone who’s ever been afraid of what others think of them about that hidden baby doll under the bed or about that old teddy bear you had when you were three, or your favorite brand of dolls you grew up with:

YOU’RE NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER TOO OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, and I am still a deep believer in Neverland, Middle Earth, Narnia, and Yatharia (long story). I am a frequent visitor of them all, you know.

Singing Furniture

Our house is one of those houses with furniture that just makes noises. You know? Like, I mean, I have a fold out table that sings boom boom pow! Seriously. I wonder if will.i.am had furniture like ours when he was writing the song (actually, the song doesn’t even sound like boom boom pow. It sounds like boom boom boom…….).

Our faucet is weird. Now, it doesn’t sing the black-eyed peas, but it doesn’t turn on right. You turn it on, and you get a trickle…..like a tiny trickle. BUT! by pressing the vegetable sprayer, the faucet begins to flow better. I know, weird, right?

The water maker in our fridge just recently started working (thank God).

But, for all its little quirks, our house is a wonderful one. In fact, I think that its little quirks make it more quaint. Despite the slight inconvenience at times. So all in all, I love our house!

Good Day, Bad Day

Have you ever had a day, where you couldn’t decide whether it was a good one, or a bad one?

Well, that’s where I am at today. Sometimes I’m not sure which the day is. Sometimes I decide, sometimes I don’t. I mean you would think that basically having to do nothing would be a blessing, right? It isn’t………..You see, I got done with most of my school early, but because one of my sisters didn’t finish all their school a few days before, I had to wait until I could finish. So what did I do? Every part of my school I could do without her. And then what did I do? I waited. I read. I got on the computer. I wandered. I…..got…..bored! And what is it I am waiting for? Math. Two words…….Not…fun….

So as of now, I am STILL waiting to do math (uhg!) while I pass my time until my sister is ready.

I think I had a bad day.

Old House, New Tricks

Our house is not THAT old. I mean…..okay…well..it’s pretty old.

Since it’s a two story house (with no basement..a thing I can do without easily), there are two sets of stairs to go upstairs. One leads to Rebekah’s (the oldest’s) room, and the other leads to a hallway right outside of Kathryn’s (the next oldest’s) room. The hallway extends and leads off to the bathroom, Dad’s office, and Mine and Sam’s room. Our house has creaky floor boards, both on the stairway and on the upper floor. Since our room is above Mom and Dad’s room, that means once we’re told we have to go to bed, we actually HAVE to go to bed. I mean, we would actually go to bed anyway, but sometimes, we like to play at night (btw, you didn’t hear me say that mom! You really didn’t!). This can be difficult with parents beneath. It also can be cumbersome when you like to dance a lot. When you’re in the room below, instead of hearing artistic music or hip hop, all you can hear is:

Creak. Creakity creak creak. THUNK! CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKK!!!!!! Kerplunkity thunk thunk. Bung bung BANG! Creak! Creeek creeek creek THUNK!

“Can we lose the Elephant on the unicycle upstairs?”

Yeah………..a serious draw back. Gotta look into that, Mom.

Now that I have listed a few cons, here is an idea which has been forming in my highly developed cranium. MORSE CODE! Wouldn’t it be so cool to go upstairs, and still be able to communicate with people below without the use of shouting? I know brilliant, isn’t it! You can just imagine it:

Creak creak creak creakity creak. CREAAAAK creak creak CREAK creak creak THUNK!

Translation: Hi

I mean, how cool would that be? We gotta try it, Ma!
